Kunming Wujiaba International Airport, located in southeast of Kunming, is not only one of the most important international port airports with the busiest taking-off and landing, but also a gateway hub airport in southwest China.
    Kunming Airport was initially built in 1923 and enlarged in 1958, 1993 and 1998 successively. It belongs to state class one airport. With a total land area of 4,297.12 mu (one mu is about 667 m2), 4E of flight zone grade, 3,600 m of runway and communication navigation facilities of ILS, VOR/DME, NDB, etc., the airport can receive Boeing 747, Airbus A340 and the like. It totally has 17 lounges with a tarmac area of 25,000 m2, 34 parking berths and an airport building area of 76,900 m2. Its designed passenger handling capacity is 10,370,000 person-times. With perfect functional facilities such as Best Commercial VIP Lounge, flower supermarket, and Chinese and Western food canteen, it can be considered as modern airport.
    Under the leadership of the leaders of Yunnan Airport Group and according to the strategic development plan for Yunnan airports, Kunming International Airport aims to build it into an important gateway airport to Southeast Asia and South Asia and provide domestic and foreign aviation enterprises with ground security and other services. Currently, there are totally 18 domestic and foreign airlines flying 167 air lines via Kunming International Airport to 57 cities in China and 17 cities in foreign countries and regions. On April 25, 2001, Kunming International Airport was granted as “Outstanding Unit for Security Flight” and awarded First Class Merit by Civil Aviation Administration of China owing to its guarantee for 50 years’ security flight. In April 2003, the project of “Construction and Management for the Security System of Kunming International Airport” won the second price of the 9th national enterprise managerial modernization and creation.
